Sports Specific Training is essential for the success of athletes of all sports and disciplines. In order to be highly competitive, an athlete must train for particular circumstances, time intervals and weather conditions among others. Agility Won believes that speed development, endurance, strength, agility, and flexibility are essential components to the overall success of body harmony providing peak performance.

The nature of Agility Won training sessions may change according to the client, duration, progression and developmental periods ultimately leading to peak performance and tailored for specific measurable goals.

The specific area of concentration depends on the event(s) you are training for. Sports-Specific athletes require development of necessary muscle groups’ targeted to that sport.
  • Runners, for example, require strong leg, biceps and hamstrings
  • Golfer’s demand strong shoulders and back
  • Tennis players concentrate on upper body strength in strong conjunction with leg motion and hand-eye coordination
  • Weight training develops muscular strength to a basic level which allows the athlete to perform at optimum levels.

Speed Development
programs should not be confused with a running training program. There are many running activities that may be appropriate in building a speed development program. The athletes natural ability is the foundation for achieving an individual’s desired outcome.

Endurance is the ability to maintain a given rate or tempo of activity over a sustained period of time. Agility Won specializes in speed endurance which refers to the ability to resist this erosion of absolute speed capabilities. This deceleration is not associated with poor energy system fitness, rather results from an inability to perform repetitive motion over prolonged periods. Agility Won endurance training activities involve maximizing performance for extended periods of time.

An example of agility is the freedom and coordination of movement at high rates of speed while clearing or avoiding obstacles. The agility factor is obtained through plyometric drills such as: hurdle hoping, bounding, and varied jumping exercises. Agility is a key component in reacting to a starters’ pistol, clearing hurdles, catching a ball, avoiding tacklers, stop & go action, etc.

If developing Sports-Specific skills, improving muscular strength is central to performance success. Agility Won coaching staff provide training involving a combination of high intensity work and low intensity work/rest in repeated successions to achieve this goal. This high intensity activity is followed by a low intensity one or rest allowing the body to recover its energy systems faster for the next high intensity activity. It allows the body to regenerate and prepare for the next high intensity activity within a workout.

Flexibility
is a key factor in the overall improvement with in any area of fitness. It allows for greater range of motion and muscle recovery from exercise. A major benefit is that it lowers the risk of injury i.e. muscle pulls.
